St. John/St. Saviour Parish Music Ministry

Do you enjoy singing? Do you enjoy a sense of community, belonging and sense of endeavor? Assisting in the production of endorphins? Interested in increasing lung capacity? Improving posture? Clearing respiratory tubes and sinuses? Increasing mental alertness through greater oxygenation? If so, then these are just a few of the benefits you will receive by becoming a member of our CHOIR. Membership is open to anyone junior high age or older. Rehearsals are MOST Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:30 pm. Our first rehearsal and organizational meeting will be THIS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14,  in CHURCH (St. Saviour). In previous years, Choir alternately participated at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday liturgy (St. John) and the 9:00 pm Sunday liturgy (St. Saviour) in addition to other special seasonal and liturgical celebrations. Due to our revised Mass schedules, we will discuss mass options as well as other items will at our SEPTEMBER 14 rehearsal. Come and be a part of our new chapter as we continue to work together as family.

Do you possess certain basic vocal skills? Have the ability to sing in tune and possess a general knowledge of music theory? Aren’t afraid to stand alone with a microphone in front of a group of people? Are told that you have a pleasing voice? If so, please consider becoming a SONG LEADER/CANTOR. These men and women, junior high school age and older, are responsible for aiding the congregation musically at whichever liturgy they choose to attend. Rehearsals are Wednesdays during the beginning of choir rehearsal OR at other times mutually agreeable by the music director and song leader/cantor. PLEASE NOTE: A brief ‘musical interview’ will be held prior to membership in the ministry.

Play a musical instrument? Have a decent knowledge of music theory? Love practicing during your free time? If so, please give some consideration in becoming a parish INSTRUMENTALIST. An informal audition with the music director is essential in order to determine both musical aptitude and readiness. Participation in this ministry may be on a regular or an “as-needed” basis.
